Our Raku kiln is made with a utility tub and an inverted garbage can. Both are lined with 1" thick carbon-fiber blanket, which allows the kiln to get up to 2,000° inside, while still It's powered by a 500,000 BTU propane torch. We also blow extra air into the torch, with a vacuum, to ensure that there is enough oxygen in the kiln. If there isn't enough oxygen, the flame will rob oxygen from the glazes and they will not turn out the correct colors. |
